Description
About Zolasta 4 Mg Injection with Zoledronic acid
Zolasta 4 mg Injection contains Zoledronic Acid, a bisphosphonate medicine supplied as a sterile lyophilized powder in a single-dose vial for intravenous infusion. It is manufactured by Intas Pharmaceuticals. It is a prescription medicine used to protect bones in people with certain cancers and to lower high blood calcium levels caused by cancer.
How It Works
Zoledronic Acid binds strongly to bone and slows down the activity of osteoclasts, the cells that break down bone. By reducing this bone breakdown, it helps keep bones stronger, lowers the risk of fractures and other bone complications, and reduces the amount of calcium released from bone into the blood.
Uses
- Hypercalcaemia (high blood calcium) caused by cancer
- Multiple myeloma
- Bone metastases from solid tumours such as breast, prostate and lung cancer, to help prevent fractures and other bone complications
How to Use
Zolasta is given only by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic as a slow intravenous infusion, usually over at least 15 minutes. The dose and how often it is given (commonly every 3 to 4 weeks for bone metastases) are decided by your doctor based on your condition and kidney function. Drink enough fluids before treatment, and take calcium and vitamin D supplements only if your doctor advises them.
