It is used to prevent and treat the inflammation, redness, swelling, and discomfort that commonly occur after this procedure. In some clinical settings, it is also used off-label for the management of cystoid macular edema following cataract extraction, anterior uveitis, scleritis, and episcleritis. The product is intended for use in adults and is not recommended for children and adolescents below 18 years of age.

The recommended dosage for the treatment of postoperative inflammation and reduction of ocular pain after cataract surgery is one drop instilled into the affected eye(s) two times daily, beginning 24 hours after cataract surgery, and continuing through the first 2 weeks of the postoperative period. Important precautions include removing contact lenses before instilling the drops and waiting at least 15 minutes before reinserting them, as the preservative may be absorbed by soft contact lenses. If using other eye medications simultaneously, a gap of at least 5 minutes should be maintained between different drops. Patients should avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until their vision is clear after application, as temporary blurred vision is common. The product should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity to bromfenac or other NSAIDs, or in those who have experienced asthma, skin allergy, or intense nasal inflammation when using other NSAIDs.
