Lorazepam 2.5mg

Lorazepam 2.5 mg is a prescription-only benzodiazepine tablet used for the short-term (2–4 weeks) relief of severe anxiety, insomnia due to anxiety, or as premedication before surgery.It is available in strengths of 0.5 mg, 1 mg, and 2.5 mg, with the 2.5 mg tablet often being scored to allow for divided doses.

For adults, the typical daily dosage for anxiety ranges from 1 to 4 mg in divided doses, while insomnia doses are typically 1 to 2 mg before retiring. Elderly or debilitated patients generally require a reduced initial dose, approximately 50% of the standard adult dose, to minimize risks of sedation and falls.

Uses:

• Duration: Use is restricted to short-term therapy to prevent dependence, tolerance, and addiction.

• Side Effects: Common effects include daytime drowsiness, dizziness, and muscle weakness.

• Contraindications: It should not be combined with alcohol, used for long-term anxiety, or taken by pregnant women without medical supervision.
